Black V Fashion Event and KEN CHEN SF
Last weekend LALY designs attended the Black V Fashion Event hosted by PIGMENT COSMETICS and ASTONISH MAGAZINE.

Black V
I am so happy I got a chance to go backstage and chat with the designers at Black V, otherwise I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to fall in love last weekend. Yes, L O V E with the beautiful designs of SF’s establishing talent – Ken Chen! Everything I have heard about Ken Chen and his edgy designs is correct. He has the heart and look of a young boy, but talent much beyond his years.
KEN CHEN of San Francisco takes influence from all over the world in creating modern, daring clothing. He likes to play with leather, pays close attention to details of stitching, and only uses the best quality material. Standing by his rack of designs was very tempting, as it made me want to try on everything!! The first design I tried on was a leather jacket that felt like it was made just for my body, it was as if he knew my exact height, width, and style!!

Given our experience in entertainment, fashion and art, Ken can bring a very unique perspective that challenges the contemporary with bold futurism. His designs have already been featured in major runway shows around the world, and he is currently making way to Europe, specifically France. KEN CHEN provides cutting edge and modern designs for both men and women.
Okay, this sounds like just what LALY designs likes! Lets take a look at some of his greatest work … let me know what you think!

I’m SO excited for this event tomorrow night. I plan to head over to the salon at 3 to have my hair styled by their amazing team of stylists and then mingle with old friends and cocktails! Can you think of a better way to spend your hump-day? Come join me!
This event is available to the public and we hope that all you hair and beauty lovers will be there (boys are invited too)! Some of our former LALY talents that have been with us through the milestones of LALY designs will be attending (and modeling!!) as well. Can’t wait to see you Anna, Michelle, and Hang!!!

Hang graciously hosted our private trunk show and is wearing LALY designs!

The LALY designs team headed out to the city of angels last weekend and caught some of Brandi Shawnell of Shawnell O’shea Swimwear and Brad Carrick of SOLZ newest looks in the sunlight on a boat, provided by Newport’s Balboa Bay Club.
The day started at Standard in Downtown LA, where one of Kim Kardashian’s favorite makeup artist performed her waterproof magic on our models. Here is a clip from our LALY live stream, where the expert herself tells us how makeup is best done for a shoot on the water: Kim K’s Makeup artist gets LALY models ready for the shoot.
When we got to the bay club, our yacht was patiently waiting for our departure…

Thank you Balboa Bay Club for the beautiful Yacht!!!!
Wanna know what went down on the boat? Check out our man Jojo Serina’s photography:

This is available through Laura Moreno at Laly@lalydesigns.com!

White SOLZ go with everything, even a hot pink retro style O'shea Swimsuit!
I consider myself very lucky to understand Daniela Cunha Lay personally because she is not like any other artist, designer, or even human being out there. Daniela Cunha Lay’s creativity is raw and beautiful. In my opinion her style of work is intoxicating and dark, but her intentions are pure and honest. She carries a heavy soul and each time she lifts a paint brush, her emotions translate into genuine masterpieces. Her work is always filled with the deepest of emotions…
She is a painter, driver, artist, lover, story teller, creator. She brings us Studio DCL live as of midnight today for SPRING 2012 Issue of LIKE Magazine. The LALY team is truly proud to see one of our own create so much in such a short period of time.
“My love for art has always been stronger than me.”
It’s refreshing to meet an artist with so much determination, focus, creativity and passion in the Bay Area. In her interview with LIKE Magazine she explains her obsession with art, and says that at times art takes full control of her time and attention. She can spend over 16 hours at once, merely perfecting her expertise. Well from what we see, it’s well worth the time put in Daniela, so keep going!

We are overly ecstatic to have another unique talent on-board with the LALY team! Gabriella Martins Daher, designer and owner of Atelier Gabriella Daher‘s beauty shines in so many ways. Growing up under the teachings of her talented family members and her professors at the prestigious FIDM, she has translated her life-long passion into a reputable line of women’s attire. Her chiffon, satin, lacy and VERY girly dresses are available at LALY designs for purchase now. She will also be creating men’s wear in the future as well.
You can be one of the first in this very LALY girl approved look!
The Heart Lace Dress is a floral chiffon bustier lined in crepe-back satin. It has a crepe-back satin contoured skirt with heart lace hem. The straps are satin-weave cotton. The Heart Lace Dress screams elegance and the attention to detail is impeccable.
And one of my favorites so far…
Gabriella looks so hot in another version of her Patent Leather Dress.

Again, I can’t emphasize how happy we are to have you on-board with us and can’t wait to see your looks spread across San Francisco and beyond!
Keep on rocking Gabriella!

I’ve been hanging out with ten beautiful women in our awesome house in Indio, CA since last Tuesday. It’s East Coast girls meet West Coast girls, and for most of us, we’ve only just met on this trip!
It’s fashion overload here, from our online shopping, impromptu Coachella fashion previews, poolside photo-shoots, and our conversations while enjoying champagne in the jacuzzi. I’ve noticed how much we’ve bonded in these two days and how fashion has been a fundamental part of it.
Fashion is, undeniably, a bonding point between women. We like to get glammed up together, talk about fashion trends and our outfits, play dress up, and share our accessories, shoes, and clothes. We compliment each other and build each other’s self-confidence. Fashion connects us, whether we’re playing dress up, following trends and styles, designing outfits, or doing some retail therapy, it’s a conversation point that relates us to each other.

T-4 Days until the first weekend of Coachella!!! & T-11 Days until the 2nd weekend!!
We are looking forward to the Keys, Swedish House, Afrojack, Miike Snow, Radiohead, tUne yArDs, Avicii and the list goes on…. (I just saw Gotye in little font for Sunday!) You will find us running from stage to stage, tent to tent. We will have coverage on all of your favorite styles and post our best selections after the festival.
Over the past few years, the music festival culture has blown up. Who knew you could have house, rock, dance, folk, blues and dubstep in one place, and love it all? Music festivals have not only diversified our taste in music, they have also influenced our style. Fashion has become a vital element to the music festival scene.
Last year was hi-rise Levi’s cut off shorts, midriff tops, and sun hats.
What will you be rockin’ this year?

Here’s the 2012 Coachella Lineup! Don’t forget to check the schedule for performance times so you can plan who to see and when to leave the stage to run to the next performance!
Also, great news! You don’t need to get a VIP pass to get alcohol. There will be full bars open to general admissions wristbands!

A while back I had the chance to interview creator, visionary, and designer behind Black Iris Creations – Tora Engle. I love her masterpieces because they are so exquisite, imaginary, and powerful. Lets start off with my very favorite mohawk, it’s almost as if this hair piece is a natural extension of the human body.

Hedieh- What would you want your customers to know about your designs when they wear it?
Tora- It’s the only piece that will ever look and feel the way it does. My work is unique and custom-made, I will never replicate any of my pieces. If you like a style from one of my creations, I can make something similar, but special in it’s own way.
“Expect authentic one of
a kind pieces every time!”
Hedieh- What is the best part of your job?
Tora- That moment when someone looks in the mirror and feels no judgment, only a spark of strength, all they know how to do is love themselves and others unconditionally. I want to see men and women illuminate with confidence in my art work.
Hedieh- What advice would you give someone wanting to start a career in fashion?
Tora- Be true to yourself and don’t forget your purpose. Keep your integrity and have fun with it! The journey will be hard, but at the end it will all be worth the while.
Hedieh- Where do you get your inspiration to design from?
Tora- - A lot of my inspiration comes from exploring new ideas and building on them by trying something new. Often times I have a vague idea of what I want to make next, so I go to fabric stores and search for little gems that can mesh together.
“I let my imagination take over…”
I find unique fabrics, diverse colors, feather trims and maybe a gold flower… I realize it looks gorgeous together, the fusion is intoxicating and I so I build on the spiraly ideas and I keep building until I am satisfied with the final product. I start by testing and eventually I let my imagination take over and make it into a Black Iris Creation!

Hedieh- Where do you see yourself in the next five years as a designer?
Tora- I actively try not to envision it, everytime I envision the distant future, it actually slows me down. Making beautiful masterpieces for beautiful people at affordable prices is my dream and what I plan to do, so lets stick to that and see where it takes me.
The purpose of DECADES was to bring SF much more than just a fashion show, we were determined to show how naturally different artists can collaborate together. From several months back, the LALY team and myself had the vision to make this show very different. Our first priority was to bring our cutting edge designs right to the runway. Secondly, we were willing to do whatever we could to make this event aesthetically gorgeous in every way possible. We started to do our homework early by dissecting fashion shows around the world from Milan, London, Tokyo, and Paris. During our search LALY designs was invited to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week of events!
Laura Moreno and myself packed our bags
and headed straight to the fashion capital of the world
New York, New York.
After attending dozens of high profile fashion shows from some of our role models like Vera Wang, Narcisso Rodriguez, and Naeem Khan, mingling amongst celebrities and talents at their fashion parties, and exchanging SF/NY strategies, we came back INSPIRED to put on one hell of a show for the San Francisco world of fashion.

BlueSkyStudio was quickly transformed into LALY stomping ground!
DECADES was an inspiration of life! Throughout the night we celebrated the collaboration and union of music, dance, technology, art, entertainment with fashion while six of our seven designers showcased their work down the runway.

Showing off my LALY program right before I open the doors, wearing DCL street wear shirt.
The seats were sold out and we had over 200 + attendees consisting of press, journalists, bloggers, investors, and local SF fashionistas waiting to come in.
